Rachel Schmeidler is an American multi-media artist based in Los Angeles whose work has been mainly noted to transform celebrity mugshots into art. She explores themes of celebrity culture and communal schadenfreude. Techincally, her work includes tehniques ranging from painting and traditional silkscreening to experimental anaglyphic stereoscopic photography. In 2010, Schmeidler started a family, however, became very ill with a rare and life-threatening pregnancy related disease. The ordeal lasted for 3 years, and ended with two beautiful baby boys and a divorce. Her focus since 2010, has shifted to reflect her story in the series named “Mickey Schmouse.”
